If You thought I was joking when I mentioned the baby food let me just tell you that I have discovered that sometimes when mommy needs a cocktail and I have no car to get to the store. . . baby food can come in handy LOL! Now I will be honest and say that I prefer using all natural baby food when it comes to my littles but now that Kennedy is one we really don't use it anymore so the jars I have in my pantry have been there for a few weeks now. I saw that I had two jars of Beech-Nut just mango baby food. (you can purchase it here) and I knew I had rum in my pantry so it was time to break out the blender.
The best kept secret to getting the baby food out of the jar and into the blender is NOT to use a spoon you silly goose. BUT to actually rub the bottom of the jar you are dumping with the bottom of the second jar! LITERALLY like that ketchup video you've seen all over facebook recently.
I even tried this when I made this drink to see if it would indeed work with baby food too and OMG the results have convinced me that i will never use a spoon to get anything out of a jar again.
Okay so now for what else made this magical drink taste like a smoothie from the summer Gods.
2 jars of just mango baby food.
1 tiny bottle of RumChata ( I happened to have this in my pantry)
6 ice cubes or till smooth. (I think if I did it again I would use Vanilla Ice Cream instead)
Tablespoon of vanilla extract.
And add more white rum if desired (I did because #momlife)
Have you ever used something random to make you a cocktail? I want to hear your mixology stories! Tell me all about it in the comments!
I forsee baby Banana food and Orange juice coming together in my kitchen next LOL
